Fly By Light: A Journey of Generations Retreat
Aug. 10-14, 2014
From August 10th-14th, One Common Unity will be taking approximately 40 youth from our Fly By Light program to Catoctin Mountain National Park (1.5 hours from D.C. in MD) for five days of empowerment, education and fun. Currently in Bell Multicultural High School, Cardozo Education Campus and Woodrow Wilson High School, the Fly By Light program connects students with their community while actively engaging them in social-emotional learning through art, music and health and wellness programs.
Now you get the chance to join them! In order to create a collaborative learning environment for every participant, we are bringing together our Fly By Light youth ambassadors from grades 9-12 with adults throughout the D.C. metro area.
Join the Fly By Light ambassadors for five days and four nights of workshops in life skills, critical thinking, health and wellness, conflict resolution and much more. Adults will help shape a positive atmosphere of growth and exploration for youth, encouraging them to expand their world view and connect to their creativity. This amazing opportunity will allow adults to act as mentors, role-models and be identified as a first line of support for the youth while they undergo this incredible journey.
The adult experience of the Fly By Light retreat will include a morning and evening yoga class every day taught by leading yoga instructors in the area, such as but not limited to Faith Hunter, Brittanie DeChino, and HawaH. Adults will be free to spend the rest of the day as they choose, though are encouraged to join and participate in the workshops along with the youth.
